Liatris aspera is native to a wide area in the mid-section of the US, Rough Blazing Star (or Button Blazing Star) is well adapted to drier conditions than many other Liatris species. Blooming from mid-summer into early fall, the flowers are highly attractive to numerous butterflies and native bee species; a great plant for the habitat garden! Low fertility, well drained soil.
