The Story
18" tall x 12" wide (seed propagated). Nassella tenuissima (Silky Thread Grass) is our most graceful native bunch grass. It gently sways in the breeze and its silky seed heads glow brightly when they catch the sunlight. Plant Nassella in any well-drained soil. It is an excellent xeric companion plant and is particularly nice when planted with Agave, Agastache and gray Artemisia. Re-seeds itself readily. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. (Note, botanists have changed this plant's genus from Stipa to Nassella.) Not for sale in CA.
